Young people in the Cuban East reissue the Caravan of Freedom.

HOLGUIN, Cuba. – The arrival of the Caravan of Freedom to Holguin on January 3, 1959, was reissued with an event held in the Oscar Lucero Moya community, where Batista´s Regiment Number seven was located.

Rebel Army combatant Adolfo Begdady Herrera recalled those days of the journey of the victorious caravan headed by Fidel Castro Ruz, who departed from Santiago de Cuba to his triumphant entrance to Havana on January 8th.

A group of young received the cards as members of the Young Communist League of Cuba (UJC) from the hands of Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, First Secretary of the Communist Party in Holguin, and Gelkis Ricardo del Toro, First Secretary of the UJC.

Hilmer Mejias Gainza, leader of the UJC in the municipality of Holguin, underlined that the present and future generations of Cubans must know in detail how the nation was forged, the struggles that made possible its freedom and independence, conquered under the guide of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
